Is there a way to sort or group devices in a logical fashion? I have 16 divisions each with their own hierarchy of routers, servers and switches. I would like to sort them in the device menu according to division rather then create separate web page views for them.

Yes - enable grouping in the routers2.conf. If you have the latest v2.16b7 then you can even enable multilevel grouping.

group = yes

They are grouped according to the directory which holds the .cfg file. The name of the group is the directory name, but you can override this in the routers2.conf.

Groups and devices are sorted alphabetically by description. Multilevel groups are defined by splitting on the colons in the group description (I know, messy, but it had to be backwards compatible).

See the HOWTO documentation for more details.

This is going to be something to do with the way that the open innovations bundle processes the files for update.

routers2 is spotting the new location of the .cfg files, and is creating the groups as you describe. The group names eg 'bin\' are defaulted to the last portion of the path name. You can put better descriptions in the routers2.conf file (there should be some examples already in there, commented out) in the [targetnames] section.

I have a feeling that the Bundle may not support .cfg files in subdirectories, or that possibly it stores the location of the files it creates at the time of creation, and then always expects to find them there (so when you move it, routers2 can spot it because it checks each time, but the bundle update process cannot).

I know the bundle does a few things in a non-standard way -- I needed to make a number of changes to the install.pl script so that it could correctly identify users with a Bundle install and change the defaults appropriately.

Unfortunately I have never used or installed the bundle so I'm not certain exactly how it performs the data gather -- and it seems that Open Innovations do not have any support forum or contact address for it.

Is there anyone else here who uses the Bundle who can clear up the problem?
