hello steve

I have somme questions for you. I placed in routers2.cgi, links toward web pages, whose certain people aren't authorize to reach there.

Can i make this ???

firts time, i must create a file passwd.txt (username:password) and then i use USER DEFINITION for create groups and rights.

Is this possible ??
How functions USER DEFINITION in routers2.cgi ??

Which options are possible (cfgfiles, group, archive,.....)??? and how to use them ???

thank you in advance

regards

David

Any definitions that you place in the [user-xxxxx] section will override the [routers.cgi] section for that particular user. So, ALL [routers.cgi] section definitions can be placed in here, such as cfgfiles, confpath, etc.

If you have links defined or extensions that you want to be visible to some users and not others, then use the SECURITY LEVELS (see the HOWTO for more details on this). You can set different security levels per user and per Extension or Link.

To authenticate the users, you should use either the routers.cgi internal authentication (LDAP is best, but you can use a password file if you want) or you can use your web server's internal authentication (this is usually preferred).

Check out the AUTHENTICATION help text and the HOWTO for more details.

Have you remembered to put
level = 0
in the [routers.cgi] section (to give a default level before people log in)?

Also, which type of authentication are you using? Does your web server provide the authentication, or do you want routers.cgi to do it? If routers.cgi is to do it, then you will need to set the appropriate settings in the [web] section to define how.

With your code example. administrateur gets level 1 and everyone else gets level 0. However your menu item is level 2, so nobody can see it.

I will run some more tests once I get back from Taiwan, maybe something is broken in the current version? Also, please let me know which version of routers.cgi you are using -- earlier versions did not support levels in the [menu] section.
