Hello Steve , I am running into difficulty with the length of a legend . Iirc , The legend is the text field that appears in the top of the .png describing the image (?) , hopefully this is correct .

Please find attached a .pdf of the 'summary' display . The summary does not report the error and (as you'll see) displays the image .

But I would really like to have something show there describing the graph & am looking for a method to 'substitute' something smaller if I could just find the item that gets turned into the 'legend' ?

Tia , JimL

It looks as thought your 'Title[]' or 'routers.cgi*Description[]' definition is excessively long.

Routers2 doesnt perform any sanity checking on this (maybe it should...) and it looks as if the title you give is so long it has blown some limit in the RRD libraries that I was not aware of.

I think I should make routers2 truncate the Title at (eg) 128 chars, maybe?

Hello Steve , Which of these has precedence over the other ? I'm willing to bet 'routers.cgi*Description[]' .
'Title[]' or 'routers.cgi*Description[]'

That said , is there a way to Have the 'Title[]' be used instead , the 'routers.cgi*Description[]' I'd rather have as long as possible in this (so far one) case .

Tia , JimL

Hello Steve , Sorry to pester .
If you've had a chance to setup the truncation in Beta3 , Or even wehn ever you do get a chance , I'd really like to have beta3 to play with & test .
Tia , JimL

The wish list still has lots in it, although it can probably be updated with a few more. I havent received many things in the last year, probably because people are buying books instead I guess.

I can probably post b3 soon, I just want to get this change in, and fix the 'all graphs not including 6hr' bug mentioned in the other thread first.

I'll try and duplicate here - which RRDtool do you use? Here I've got 1.3.4 which may well have different limits to 1.2.x which could be why it goes OK for me. Running 2 sets of RRD libraries in parallel is awkward though.

Thanks for letting me know, I'll have to get this one sorted before releasing v2.20

Did you try setting 'maxtitle=64' or something else smaller than 128 in the routers2.conf? It may just be that my default truncation limit is still too high.

My present version of rrdtools is ...

# rrdtool --version
RRDtool 1.2.26 Copyright 1997-2007 by Tobias Oetiker <tobi@oetiker.ch>
Compiled Feb 22 2008 10:01:43

I'll get 1.3.x & see if that changes my problem any .

No I haven't tried the 'maxtitle=' variable . Mainly because I didn't see it documented , But then all I did was diff the release routers.conf against my copy to see what may have changed there .

I'll report back in a bit after I get rrdtools-1.3.x in place .

Tnx & Twyl , JimL
