I am getting the following errors when querrying some devices. The strangest thing is that all the devices use the same SNMP community string. Some devices are showing up while others are not.

This is saying that MRTG can get no response when contacting this host via SNMP. Possible causes -

1. SNMP community is wrong (check configuration)
2. Host IP address is wrong
3. No route to host (try using ping to check this)
4. A firewall is in the way blocking SNMP
5. The host has an ACL blocking the MRTG server from using SNMP
6. Network traffic is so high that the SNMP request times out
7. The host only supports SNMPv2 and you are sending v1 (try adding ::::::2 to the end of the Target definition to use v2)

You should use snmpwalk or a similar windows utility to test a SNMP query to this remote host and see if you can get a response.

It seems as if the problem is related to an access-list. I added the monitoring server to the access-list and thing seems to be working. What I don't understand is that the same access-list is on some other devices but yet I did not get that error message. Strange!!!
