I am setting up a switch as a test. For some reason just one of the ports is unable to have its graph generated. MRTG generates the .rrd file ok. If I click on the link for this port and pull up the detail page, there is no graph there either, but I can download the CSV file and their is data in it. The other 23 ports on this device all show up fine. I have even recreated the MRTG .cfg file and the routers2.cfg file. I have no idea why this one port's graph can't be generated. This is the first port on the device and the first port in the list. FWIW

The web pages displays the following text as a hyperlink to the detail page:

Graph was not created!

Probably, no data is available for the requested time period.

RRD:/var/www/mrtg/192.168.64.2_g1.rrd
Device:[switch.cfg] switch
Interface: 192.168.64.2_g1

Any ideas of where to look?

Of course I spend 4 hours trying to figure this out, and then post my question only to get it working.

It seems there is an issue with the logscale global default option

I had the following line in my MRTG .cfg file

Options[_]: bits,growright,logscale

I changed it to

Options[_]: bits,growright

and the graph appeared. I don't know why the problem, but at least I have the graph.

Which version of RRDTool do you have (and which version of Routers2)?

The logscale support did not arrive until Routers2 v2.19(?) and it requires a later version of RRDTool for it to work. I suspect you have the correct version of Routers2, but not a sufficiently recent version of RRDTool. You'll need 1.2.30 or later (I think), or 1.3.6 or later.

Sorry I cant give you the exact required versions - Im at home at the moment on paternity leave...

I am using routers2 v2.20 and rrdtool v1.3.1-4 on debian(Ubuntu), which looks like the most current stable release. I could go to rrdtool v1.4.3-1, but it looks like I have it working now, even though I haven't quite gotten the graphs the way I want them. Still slogging through the settings.

Congrats on your paternity leave.

Thanks,
Rob

That's odd - it should work, then. I'll run some more tests on the logscale support when I get time.
