I installed MRTG 2.16.2 and RRD tool before i installed Router2.
first of all,Not sure if RRD tool is updating the database regularly, though there are couple of .rrd files created, but it seems that they are not getting updated.
Also can not properly cofigure router2 - Its not generating any graph. It creates the Graph folder only along with the RRDIcon folder.
When it asks the first question about Web server rood direcitory - am i supposed to enter a path for a directory within the Apache server Direcotory or something else?
Basically getting confuse with first two or three questions in the installation process.
Need a help

thanks

When you are asked for the apache web root, you need to give the absolute path of the directory - eg. /var/www/html

If the RRD files are not being updated, you should check permissions on the RRD files, and check the output ofr MRTG when it runs to see if it is giving any helpful error messages.

You can verify the Routers2 configuration by using the URL

http://yourserver/cgi-bin/routers2.cgi?page=verify

(you will need to give the appropriate hostname or IP for 'yourserver', and use .pl instead of .cgi if you are using Windows or mod_perl of course)

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply below.
I have created a directory "MRTGhtml" in 'C:\' drive where i store my html pages.
So when routers2 installation ask for the web server document root directory, I enter "c:\MRTGhtml". and same for the following question. This does create "Graph" and "RRDIcon" folders in MRTGhtml directory.
It also populates the RRDIcon folders with all the images or icons. But it does not create any graph.
would you be able to tell me why?
Also regarding the .rrd files, they do update at regular intervals.
cheers - thanks

First of all, you will need to have previously configured your web server (apache) so that this directory is the web root. If you are making this a sub-directory of the webroot, you will need to manually set up the graphurl and iconurl appropriately in the routers2.conf.

The graphs are only created on the fly by the routers2.cgi script when they are required, so you wont see anything until you call the script. I am not convinced you've installed things into the real web server web root though... you cant just pick a directory at random, it must be the web root configured in your web server.
