Hi,

Would it possible to display top 10 or 20 devices using ei: memory, CPU, HDD space, incoming or outgoing traffics on switch/router even ports?
or any critical issues.
Thanks for any inputs!

Ddemirchi

You can do similar to this under the compact summary - you can have devices sorted.

The problem with asking for this is, how would you define it? You need to tell the frontend which targetnames to compare on which devices. Do you want all the defined devices, or just a subset? What if the selected targetname is not defined on that device? How would routers2 know which targetname to compare on each device? If you can tell me a generic way to configure this, then I might be able to add it - but 'compare the CPU counters' cant work since routers2 has no way of knowing which devices have CPU counters, and what their target names are - and the numbers may not event be comparable, if you have unix hosts with spot-percentages and windows hosts with 5-min averages.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for reply!

Maybe I am jumping to0 ahead. :-)

What I would like is the show top 10 or switches or routers;
Like you said, the summary page. This is REALLY Great!

- Maybe display a link somewhere in the page show top int or switch..etc.
- display only switches (IP address range or DNS Name)
- or display the ports
- if incoming/outgoing traffice more then 60 MB
- or one for incoming traffic and one for outgoing traffice ?

Thank you,

DDemirchi

There are already the 'incoming' and 'outgoing' graphs, which show all the interfaces, ranked by traffic, and the compact summary can be sorted in a variety of ways.

How would you generically define the top 10 switches or routers (remember, this needs to work for everyone, not just for you)? How would routers2 know which devices are switches and routers? Which target should be examined for a given switch, and should the incoming or outgoing be checked? Do you define 'top' by the current value, the current average (over what time period?) or the 95th percentile? What if incoming is very high, but outgoing is very low?

These are just some of the problems with trying to define a 'top 10' page.
