Hi Steve, All monitoring is going well last weeks so i have nothing to complain.. Another thing what happened was that i stopped the Nagios Eventlog service on the client and forgot to switch it on. Because it only reports when something is wrong, the eventlog monitors where joyfull green but no actual monitoring took place. This brought me to the idea to implement a heartbeat feature which sends and all OK message on a user-defined interval (e.g. 5 minutes). Is that an idea for the next version? Grz. Johan |

To get around this problem, we also use the pNSclient agent. Since all our windows servers have pNSclient installed anyway (for OS monitoring), I added an extra Nagios service to monitor that the EventLog Agent is up. I see the point of the heartbeat feature, though. Maybe every 10 processing cycles it should send an 'I'm OK' alert through to a specific service? I'll look at adding this in the next version. |
