It appears that NagiosEventLog has some problems with working under Windows 2003. Several people have reported problems, and now that I have finally managed to get my hands on a Win2k3 server I have duplicated them. There seems to be difficulty in accessing the WinSock libraries, which is causing an CPU-eating loop to build up. I will try to correct this, but until then, you are not recommended to try to use the agent under Win2K3. If anyone has successfully made it work under 2K3, please let me know. [UPDATE] This was caused by a change in winsock1 library under Win2k3. The winsock2 library works, but NT doesnt have one of those. Version 1.6.2 and later are compiled with Winsock2, and so work under win2k3. Version 1.6.3 comes in a package with both winsock1 and winsock2 versions , so it will work under NT as well. |

Hi!. I had install windows EventlLog Agent in a windows 2003 but when I try to test NSCA daemon with encryption, the server return this error: Received invalid packet type/version from client - possibly due to client using wrong password or crypto algorithm?"); If I dont use any cipher method I dont have any problem. Thanks. |

Make sure you have configured the same password and encryption mode at *BOTH* ends - ie, in the EventLog agent and in the NSCA daemon. These need to match. You also need to be sure that your NSCA daemon was compiled with encryption support enabled. The EventLog agent has encryption builtin and distributed with it (does this mean I can't legally give a copy to Americans? |

Hi! The password and the chiper method are the same. After the instalation, works perfectly only with the password but don't work with any encryption method. Nevertheless, when the system was rebooted, the encryption method works perfectly. The system is windows 2003 SP1. In windows 2000 SP4 I don't need to reboot the system to work. Thanks. Pd. Sorry for my poor english. |

Thanks for the information. It may be that I will need to make the installation script require a system reboot in order to deal with this? Anyway, glad to hear it is working fine now. And your english is way better than my french/german/spanish/chinese/russian/whatever.... |

Hello. I seem to be having problems that I haven't seem mentioned here. I've installed on a Windows 2003 server (not sure of the SP level) and a WinXP Pro system and get the same results. I'm using v 1.8.1 of the nagevlog software. When I run the setup/installer .exe, it generates the following message once the installer starts putting files out: Runtime Error (at 17:165): Could not call proc. Click Retry to try again, Ignore to proceed anyway, Abort to Cancel I hit ignore and this window pops up 4 more times but then the installation proceeds. Once installed (if it really is after that error above), I start the service and configure the NSCA parameters. When I tell it to "Test NSCA Daemon", the window never comes back. I get an hourglass and eventually the title bar moves to a "(Not Responding)" state and stays that way until it kill it manually. I tried uninstalling the setup/installer version and just extracting the zip file, applying the registry changes and running the "2000+" binaries and get the same result (i.e. the app stops responding). Am I missing something? Thanks Mark |
