Thanks to Shamil, here's what to do: Install a Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package from Microsoft site: This adds the required DLLs that are missing on your system. |

This post is very old, so I wasn't sure whether to post this reply or create a new post. Anyway, I have a Windows 2008 R2 server, and have installed the Event Log Monitor 1.9.2. I've installed the Visual C++ 2005 redistributable and yet when I start NagEvLogCtrl.exe I get the "application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect" message. I've also tried using the EventLog-64bit files, restarting service, and still no-go. Can anyone tell me how to get this working on 2008 R2 server? Thanks. PJ. |

I have never compiled the Eventlog binary for use on Win2K8 64bit as I do not have a 64bit development environment. The 64bit Eventlog files were provided by a third party who compiled the source code themselves, so are slightly behind in version. I have not been able to test them but several people have reported that they worked on their systems. I think that the error message you report is due to trying to run 32bit apps under a 64bit OS? I have been told that, if you stop the eventlog service and replace the two .exe files with the Eventlog-64 files, then restart the service it should work as expected. |

I think for later Windows versions (2k3, 7, 8) it will need to be recompiled, and maybe even changed to properly support double-byte character strings. Unfortunately, I do not have a windows development environment for anything later than WinXP 32bit. The 2k3 64bit binaries were compiled by a third party for separate distribution. If any Windows developer who has the necessary development environment wants to adopt the project, I'd be open to the idea. |
