Hello all, I have nagios 3 installed and running perfectly. Am trying to get this windowsevent send to nagios server. Can someone guide me the server part and client part installation and configurations ? I have downloaded nagevlog-setup-1.8.3. All my windows client are installed NSClient++ and uses check_nt to check services. Thanks Coolboy |

This is all covered in more detail in the documentation shipped with the nagevlog package. First, make sure your Nagios is installed, processing the command file, and has NSCA installed and working. Install the nagevlog package on your windows machine. You will need to define some passive services on your Nagios for the host depending on what logs you want monitored. Define filters in nagevlog. The first filter to match wins so you can use this to work out which rule will be triggered. The nagevlog configuration specifies the NSCA server(s), and the Nagios hostname of the server being monitored. Your filters each specify the nagios servicename and status level to be set. |

This agent will only send a service check result to the NSCA daemon on the Nagios server, which will then pass this alert on to the Nagios daemon via the nagios.cmd file. When Nagios processes this check result, the host or serivce will possibly change status and generate an alert (depending on how you have configured it) and this will send out notifications according to you Nagios configuration. In other words, all alerting and notification rules are handled and processed by Nagios, not by the agent. |
