Can you confirm -

1) what exact parameters you care using to call check_rbl ?
2) Your nagios server has full DNS access to the internet (either directly, or via a local forwarding DNS server)

Unknown usually means that either it cannot access the DNS, or else you have not given a valid parameter.

It is also possible from the error message you give that you have not correctly configured the command in the checkcommands.cfg so Nagios does not know how to call the script.
