Post subject:  Problems finding my cfg files?

I posted this in the MRTG section, but I think it may have to do with the CGI script. Here is the message I am getting:

---------------------------------------------
There files are taken from the cfgpath and cfgfiles directives in the [routers.cgi] section of the routers.conf file. If no files are listed below, then you should check that these definitions are correct.

confpath = C:\mrtg\bin
cfgfiles = *.cfg

I have two cfg files sitting in that directory. Any idea why it isn't finding them?

If you really have files matching

C:\mrtg\bin\*.cfg

then check that the web server process actually has rights to read these files and the directory listing.

Thanks Steve! That was it. I wasn't having this problem when I had them off my www root, maybe there was a different problem at the time.

Do you recommend placing them in one of the website directories or somewhere else?

Definitely DO NOT place them in one of the website directories (under wwwroot) since this is a security risk (everyone can see your SNMP community strings and device addresses). The example routers2.cgi installation on the website does place them uin the website, but this is for demonstration purposes only and they do not contain 'real' information.
