Here, I use a homegrown perl script that generates all the config files for both MRTG and Nagios simultaneously, using a set of templates I have already made. I have a configuration file that lists the various servers and devices with parameters, and this is used to generate hundreds of other files.
Unfortunately is is highly customised for our site and requirements, and not in a form directly usable by others without some code changes. Perl people are welcome to have the code and templates, though, if required.
Some of the templates are already distributed with routers2.15 in the extras/templates directory.
