Where can I get a copy?

These are the various publications available for purchase online, published via the Lulu.com website. Some are available for download in digital format as well as in physical format.

FAQ, Reviews, Updates and Errata

You can see the latest information, any reviews and errata in the discussion forum.

Problems obtaining a copy?

If you have problems because of excessive shipping costs to your country (hello, Canadians!) or because Lulu will not ship to you (hello, Pakistan!) then email me directly and I should be able to arrange alternative methods.

Similarly, if for some reason you cannot pay with a credit card, I can arrange to take payment via PayPal or SWIFT transfer (hello, Germany!). Again, email me directly for details.

Bulk Orders

Interested in purchasing more than 5 copies? If you want to get several copies, I can offer discounts of up to 25% of the cover price (no discount on postage costs) if you're willing to pay via PayPal or SWIFT transfer, depending on quantity and destination country. Email me directly if you're interested.

Amazon and high-street shops

The book is now available from Amazon.com, although not from the regional Amazon stores or the high-street shops such as Borders. This is because due to retailers requirements, my commission on a single book dwindles to about US$1 after their discounts and tax and so on. This is before we even start on the costs involved in getting ISBNs assigned. Since most, if not all, potential readers are able to use online purchasing via Lulu, it makes more sense to keep Lulu as the primary distribution point for the time being.

New Zealand orders

New Zealanders can order from Trade Me, and get free shipping (stock permitting).

Problems and Difficulties relating to Orders

This would be mis-shipped or missing orders, incorrect charging, printing errors, and so on.
Please address these initially to the appropriate retailer - I.E., Lulu or Amazon. If you are not satisfied with how the problem is being dealt with, please let me know so that I can follow up as well.

Using MRTG with RRDtool and Routers2 : Third Edition

357 pages, 6" x 9", perfect binding, cream interior paper (60# weight), black and white interior ink, white exterior paper (100# weight), full-colour exterior ink

How to install, set up and configure a Systems Monitoring server using the popular MRTG software with RRDtool and Routers2. Includes examples, detailed configuration syntax, and advanced techniques to make the most of your system. This is what you need if you are running an MRTG/RRD system with Routers2 and want to make the most of your software! Learn new techniques, and have a quick on-hand reference when creating custom configurations and graphs. This is the first commercially-available book dealing with this popular software combination, written by the author of the Routers2 frontend.

MRTG was the first widely used traffic monitoring system, and today continues to enjoy a large following of people who like it for its simplicity and robustness. From the beginning, I have shipped MRTG with full documentation for all of its configuration options as well as installation instructions and more - a whole directory full of documentation, in fact. But still, as time goes by every now and then I get an email that says something like:
"Tobi, I have read all the documentation that comes with MRTG and have still no clue. Is there a book on MRTG that you can recommend?"
The bottom line is that, until now, if you wanted to get up and running with MRTG, you had to rely on the information that came with it, or follow one of the many tutorials you can find on the web. As you brought it up and running you may also have discovered that you want more configurability or even more beautiful output, which meant that you had to switch to RRDtool and some frontend.
This is all about to change now, since Steve not only talked about writing a book, but he actually wrote one. Enjoy!
- Tobi Oetiker, author of MRTG and RRDtool

A Garden for Ami

Printed: 24 pages, 8.5" x 8.5", saddle-stitch binding, full-colour interior ink

A 1000-word story for children of around 3-5 years, with bright collage illustrations and a gentle twist in the tale. Starts as a true story before diverging into fable. The basic narrative was invented on the spur of the moment, in the need for a new bedtime story. Older children will understand deeper levels than younger ones. The illustrations were made by collages of cut-out painted paper (since I'm useless at freehand drawing), and were heavily influenced by "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", "Goodnight Moon", and various 1970s children's TV animations. Buy copies for your friends! Buy copies for you local schools and libraries! The more you buy, the more economical postage becomes! And after all, I get a teeny commission for each one sold, so all I have to do is unload a couple of million then I'll be able to afford a house with a REAL garden for Ami!
